HEALTH CARE
'Prevention is better than cure.'
We have learned that especially in today's scenario where Covid-19 has caused so many deaths.
Medical science has been constantly trying to devise ways and means to help man in maintaining sound health.
The methods of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment have developed with breathtaking speed. Incurable diseases of the past like smallpox and tuberculosis have become curable.
Governments all over the world are spending millions on the treatment of diseases and health management. A very large proportion of the country's health budget is used in treatment.
Hospitals and health centers have been set up everywhere and medicines are given either free or at subsidized rates.
Massive work is going on in the field of health and hygiene.
While the government is putting out large sums of money in treatment, not much is being done on health education and preventive measures.
Children in schools are not given adequate training in a balanced diet and health care. Cleanliness is neglected in many under-developed countries.
Filth and garbage on the road are common sights. Spitting, urinating, and throwing garbage on roadsides is considered a birthright.
Garbage is not cleaned for days giving way to germs which in turn cause diseases.
Government should tighten its belt and locate generous amounts of funds for preventive measures and health education.
